Description: This project is a renovation of an existing mosque on a corner site for a client who sought to add an iconic character to the mosque exterior.
The planning involved creating an extended transition space at the entrance allows the worshippers to slowly transcend in to serene worship space from a busy city life. And accentuating the corners with tall striking minarets with the S-W and the N-E containing a lift and a fire exit stairwell respectively to increase accessibility.
The double height entrance gate is composed of three tall Persian arches and arched openings with jaalis. The openings on south facing wall are made larger with an arched transom.
Inspired by the Masjid-e-Haram in Mecca the minarets, entrance gateway and south wall are clad with alternating shades of granite making the mosque elegant by repetitions of Persian arches composed in order to create a complex and inviting facade
