Located in Chennai, for a client with requirement for a four bedroom family house design adhering to Vaastushastra (Hindu system of organizing spaces and forms) having a decorative façade.
Planning concept of the house adopts nine square mandala with different spaces oriented in eight directions around a central courtyard that acts as an energy centre, thus exploring the purity of the simple square form.
The façade is decorated with roman design elements like sculptural pediments, corniced friezes and patterned columns and walls using materials like teak for doors and windows, matt white finish with grey and exposed brick highlights gives the simple cubist form a palatial royal look.
